Welcome | From the Head of School
Welcome to Fox Chapel Country Day School.
Since 1948, hundreds of children have journeyed through their childhood at Fox Chapel Country Day School where we provide a nurturing environment, age-appropriate curriculum, and a wide variety of inside and outside activities to inspire happy, active learners.
When you first visit us, you may initially be struck by the charm of our large red-brick school house filled with spacious, bright classrooms. Although our building is indeed attractive, don’t walk inside right away. Make sure to look around you to get a more complete picture. Country Day School is nestled among seventeen acres of beautiful, wooded land and lovely rolling hills. It is truly the ideal educational setting.
After you explore the surroundings, please enter through the front door and walk through our halls. It is here where you will notice the intimate environment and the relaxed atmosphere. We strongly believe that our small class size allows every child to be cared for by every faculty member and to experience learning as a journey, not a race. Within each classroom, you will see that our children are actively engaged in the learning process.
If you visit with us and attend one of the classroom or whole-school morning meetings, you will discover that we are a community dedicated to teaching our children how to care for and respect each other. We begin this process with our youngest students, and we continue guiding them as they move through the elementary grades. Our faculty and our parents work as a team to provide a caring, responsive, and empathetic environment for our children.
Yes, our location, size, and sense of community are all vital aspects to our school; however, it is our children’s extraordinary experiences, their joyful approach to learning, and their commitment to friendship that make us unique and proud.
Please stop by and see the school for yourself! I am eager to meet you.
